Museums
Our town has a lot of history, so as such, we have a couple of museums that you and your children would love to explore! Here are a couple of choices for you:
- The Children’s Museum of Northeast Montana – Specifically targeting the younger crowd, the Children’s Museum of Northeast Montana will not only educate your child on the history and wildlife of the area, but will also keep them entertained through multiple hands-on exhibits and learning activities. They’ll find a miniature Main Street USA to play on and multiple fun areas to explore!
- Valley County Pioneer Museum – If you or your child is a history buff, the Valley County Pioneer Museum is a must during your trip. You will learn about the Native American tribes that lived in the area, and even see one of the last three elk hide teepees in the world! Beyond that, the museum has multiple exhibits that highlight the local wildlife, the town’s history in aviation, the railroad, cowboys, and so much more.
- Fort Peck Interpretive Center – Take a short drive from our downtown hotel and make a journey to the Fort Peck Interpretive Center by the Fort Peck Dam. As soon as you enter, you will be greeted by a life-sized model of a Tyrannosaurus Rex! The model is based on the bones of a T-Rex (nicknamed Peck’s Rex) that was found just 20 miles away! Their paleontology exhibits feature numerous displays to learn about the dinosaurs that once roamed the land. Another must-see are the two aquariums that are the largest in Montana and feature native and game fish.
Outdoor Activities
Glasgow is known for being the outdoor enthusiast’s haven. No matter what time of the year, you’ll find areas to explore in the area. During the summer, take your young one to the Fort Peck Lake to enjoy some time fishing, sailing, swimming, or just lounging around on the beach! You can even go ice fishing during the winter! The lake is proud to boast of over 50 different species of fish, and with so much room you don’t have to worry about other folks crossing your lines or fighting for the ideal spot. If your child happens to be a fan of hunting, or you’d like to introduce them to it, then you’ll find that there’s no better place to catch some game and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
Indoor Activities
If you’re planning for your trip to be a little more low-key, or just need a day to relax after your adventures, then you can do that too! You guys could play some games and enjoy our recently renovated hotel suites, or if you’d like to go out and about, you have options for that as well! Go catch a flick at the Valley Cinema 2 or have fun knocking down some pins at the El Cor Del bowling alley and arcade!
Explore the Town
You’ll find our quaint, historic town entertaining enough on its own. Walk down the streets and you’ll almost be transported back over 100 years ago where horse and buggies rolled down the streets and railroad workers and cowboys roamed about. You don’t even have to leave the hotel to get a sense of history! Our building just recently celebrated its 100th year! For an additional adventure for your child, if they’re fans of ghosts, go ahead and tell them that the hotel is haunted (it’s not, but this will certainly pique their curious nature).
